Section 1. A man phones the Flagstone letting agency to ask about renting a two-bedroom house with a garden, and the agent describes the areas covered, rent ranges, two available properties and what he'll need to do to rent one.

Section 2. A woman newly arrived from Canada asks her English neighbour, worried about her sick daughter, how to register with a local doctor, and the neighbour explains the two nearby health centres, appointment times, home visits and prescription charges.

Section 3. A tutor interviews Jonathan Briggs, a prospective trainee teacher, about his degree, his three years volunteering as a teacher in West Africa, and his reasons for now wanting to train as a geography teacher.

Section 4. Paula Clayburg, chief counsellor at a pain clinic, gives a talk on the scale and causes of back pain, then reviews which everyday remedies — bed rest, weight loss, chairs, beds, shoes and gadgets — her clinic does and doesn't recommend.
